Our Approach
Discovery & Planning
- We began with a thorough discovery phase to understand UAFA&P’s goals, target audience, and specific requirements. We conducted several brainstorming sessions with their team to outline the website’s structure, key features, and design preferences.

- Comprehensive homepage showcasing recent projects and news.
Detailed sections for initiatives, publications, and team members.
Integration of multimedia elements (videos, images) to enhance engagement.

We experimented with collage-style artwork combined with illustrations to visually represent the global collaboration inherent in their work. This artistic approach provided a unique and engaging visual identity for the website.

Key Visual Elements

Featuring a dynamic collage of images and illustrations that highlight global collaboration and impactful initiatives. We incorporated elements of nature to symbolize growth, renewal, and the nurturing spirit of UAFA&P’s mission.
Initiatives Pages
Detailed and visually appealing sections showcasing ongoing projects, outcomes, and publication highlights. The illustrations here emphasize collaboration and trust, portraying diverse groups working together harmoniously.
Accessibility
Ensuring the website was accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, was a core priority. We implemented several key accessibility features:
- Text alternatives for all non-text content.
- Keyboard navigability for all interactive elements.
- High-contrast color schemes to assist visually impaired users.
- Screen reader compatibility to ensure content can be read aloud.
User Testing
To ensure the website met the needs of its diverse user base, we conducted comprehensive user testing. This included testing with differently-abled individuals to gather feedback on accessibility features and overall usability. The insights gained from these sessions were invaluable in refining the design and functionality of the site.
Development
Using the latest web development technologies, we ensured the site is fully responsive, fast-loading, and accessible on all devices. We integrated Drupal as Content Management System to allow UAFANP’s team to easily update content, add new publications, and share news. Drupal allowed high security for Women Human Rights Defenders worldwide and we ensured robust security systems throughout the website to ensure high data security.
SEO and Performance Optimization
We implemented SEO best practices to enhance visibility in search engines and optimized the site for speed and performance. This ensures users have a seamless experience, whether they are accessing the site on a desktop or mobile device.

The final website (https://www.uafanp.org/) is a testament to UAFANP’s commitment to women’s human rights and global collaboration. It serves as a hub for activists, supporters, and partners, providing easy access to valuable resources and showcasing the impactful work being done across Asia and the Pacific.

We worked with powerful visual metaphors and effective design to design a unique visual language that is native to Asia and Pacific. We consciously stayed away from western aesthetics and developed a decolonial design language to represent the beauty and richness of Asia and Pacific. The incorporation of nature, collaboration, and trust into the illustrations has created a rich, engaging user experience. We are proud to have supported UAFANP in their mission to advance women’s human rights and foster global collaboration through this dynamic and accessible website.
Development
Using the latest web development technologies, we ensured the site is fully responsive, fast-loading, and accessible on all devices, providing a seamless experience for users across various platforms.
We integrated an open-source, highly secure, and robust content management system (CMS) to provide UAFANP’s team and the Women Human Rights defenders it serves with a trustworthy and safe online experience.
The website is self-hosted on a feminist server, ensuring that the data and sensitive information of all women’s rights defenders are completely safe, untrackable, and protected against any potential threats. This commitment to security and privacy underscores our dedication to supporting and empowering women’s rights defenders in their crucial work.
